Wild Birds - Eight Facts

1) The holes in birdhouses should be just large enough for the target bird to fit through, but no larger. This keeps predator birds out.
2) A bluebird trail is a series of bluebird houses put up to encourage bluebirds to nest.
3) Thanks to conservation efforts, including bluebird trails, the population of bluebirds is rebounding. Netvue vigil camera manual used to be as common as robins. But the population was nearly decimated in the middle of the 20th century.
4) Change out the nectar in hummingbird feeders regularly so that it doesn't ferment. The water doesn't need to be colored, and in fact should not be colored with artificial colors. It's the color of the feeder that attracts the birds. Netvue orb camera review can have perches. The idea that they should not have perches is an "old wives' tale."
5) During the peak nesting and breeding season, hummingbirds will spend less time at feeders and more time catching and eating insects.
6) Robins have excellent sight. They find worms by detecting their movements in burrows close to the surface.
7) Platform feeders are sometimes too effective. Platform feeders, where the birdseed is just set out on a large screen, work very well. But since they are easy to get to, they can work too well, attracting not just birds but squirrels, chipmunks, skunks, raccoons, deer, and other wild animals. Unless you have a lot of land and your intent is to feed wild animals, you are better off with a hopper or a tube feeder.
8) Don't feed birds bread - at least not too much. It doesn't have enough fat or protein in it, yet it fills up the birds' tummies.
